One Woman Directed Short on 2013 Oscar Documentary Short Shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the 8 documentary shorts that are on the 2013 Oscar shortlist for Best Documentary Short. Three to five of the films on the list will be nominated for the Oscar.

Of the eight documentary shorts on the shortlist, only one is directed by a woman. Sara Ishaq’s Karama Has No Walls looks at March 18th, 2011 — the Friday of Karama — a tragic turning point in the Yemen revolution.
