Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival has announced its 2021 lineup. Set to take place August 13-22, this year’s program features nearly 200 films. Titles set to screen include Natalie Morales’ “Language Lessons,” a comedy about a long-distance friendship, and Marion Hill’s “Ma Belle, My Beauty,” a polyamorous love story set in southern France.
Lauren Hadaway’s “The Novice,” a drama about a college freshman obsessed with succeeding in her rowing team, serves as the fest’s U.S. Centerpiece. The Documentary Centerpiece is “Being Bebe,” Emily Branham’s portrait of Bebe Zahara, the first winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
The 39th edition of the film fest will close with “Fanny: The Right to Rock,” Bobbi Jo Hart’s tribute to the first all-female rock band to release an album with a major label. The screening will be followed by a live reunion performance by Fanny.
