Patricia Arquette to Pen Memoir About Her Career and Single Motherhood

Oscar winner Patricia Arquette is set to write a memoir for Random House.

According to the press release, the book will focus on Arquette’s atypical family, which includes a father who converted from Catholicism to Islam, and how she took on the real-life role of single mom long before playing that part in her Academy Award-winning performance in “Boyhood.” The memoir will also explore Arquette’s experience as a woman in Hollywood, a subject we’re especially interested in hearing more about from her because she’s a fourth-generation actor. Hopefully she’ll touch on how experiences have differed between the male and female Arquettes in the business.

“Over the years, the public has come to know aspects of me through my roles in film and television. Writing a memoir will be a new and intimate artistic journey for me, and I hope to bring to it the same honesty I have always sought to bring to my work as an actor,” said Arquette.

We can’t wait to hear more real talk from Arquette, who made headlines when she called for equal rights and wage equity for women during her Oscars acceptance speech back in February.

Susan Kamil, publisher of Random House, will edit the memoir and had this to say about the project: “Patricia Arquette is a remarkable woman and the instant empathy audiences feel when they see her work on screen is completely evident on the page. The material I read is revelatory and deeply moving. Not a surprise from an actress of such nuance and intelligence.” The memoir sounds like a must-read.

Arquette is represented by The Gersh Agency and 3 Arts Entertainment. She currently stars in “CSI: Cyber” on CBS.
