Phoebe Dynevor Attached to Star In and Exec Produce “Exciting Times” for Amazon

Dynevor in "Bridgerton": Liam Daniel/Netflix

It’s exciting times for “Bridgerton” breakout Phoebe Dynevor, who is attached to executive produce and star in a new series adaptation for Amazon. Naoise Dolan’s novel “Exciting Times” was optioned by Black Bear Pictures prior to its publication in June 2020, and is now in development. Deadline broke the news.

Dynevor is set to play Ava, an Irish transplant teaching English grammar abroad to wealthy children, when she becomes entangled in a love triangle with banker Julian and lawyer Edith.

Clementine Quittner and Sleena Wilson at Black Bear will serve as co-producers, while Dolan herself is also signed on to exec produce and co-write.

Dynevor was catapulted into global recognition by the huge Netflix hit, “Bridgerton,” in which she played the female lead, Daphne Bridgerton. While she is expected to return for a second season, her future on the show — which has also been renewed for third and fourth seasons — is unclear. The British actress’ previous credits include the BBC’s “Dickensian” and Paramount+ series “Younger.” She is also set to star in the Claire McCarthy-directed film, “The Colour Room,” in which she plays a pioneering British ceramic artist in the 1920s pottery industry, and rounds out the cast in the upcoming U.K. remake of French comedy series “Call My Agent!” about talent agents struggling to keep their clients happy and their agency afloat.

“Exciting Times” is Dolan’s first novel. It was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction.
