Pilot season is upon us, which means some of our favorite actresses are being cast in promising new projects. Here’s a short roundup:
— Emmy winner Jane Lynch (“Glee”) has signed on as a co-lead in “Angel From Hell.” The CBS comedy finds Lynch playing Amy, a larger-than-life woman who claims to be her new friend Allison’s guardian angel. Allison isn’t sure if Amy’s telling the truth or just delusional, but from his bizarre arrangement comes a close bond between the two women.
— Emmy and Tony nominee Mireille Enos (“The Killing”) will headline the ABC drama “The Catch,” from the alphabet network and Shonda Rhimes’ production companies. Written and executive produced by Jennifer Schuur and based on the novel by Kate Atkinson, “The Catch” finds a pair of fiancés, conman Kieran and fraud investigator Alice (Enos), duping each other before they’re to say “I do.”
— KaDee Strickland (“Private Practice”), another Shondaland alumna, will collaborate with longtime “Grey’s Anatomy” EPs Tony Phelan and Joan Rater on “Doubt,” a CBS thriller about a successful and sophisticated lawyer who becomes involved with one of her clients, who may or may not be guilty of a terrible crime.
