‘Pitch Perfect’ Writer’s ‘#Girlboss’ Goes Straight to Series at Netflix

Netflix has ordered a comedy series based on Sophia Amoruso’s best-selling book “#Girlboss.”

The streaming service went straight to series with “#Girlboss,” which suggests that they have a lot of confidence in the project.

The series is the brainchild of “Pitch Perfect” writer Kay Cannon, who will serve as series’ showrunner. Cannon will exec produce the show along with Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, Laverne McKinnon and Amoruso herself.

“#Girlboss” is inspired by Nasty Gal founder Amoruso’s improbable ascent to becoming a bona fide business mogul. Her multi-million dollar fashion enterprise began when Amoruso attempted to scrape together a living selling vintage items through eBay. She spent much of her young adulthood hitchhiking and dumpster-diving.

The show will be single camera, and wedded to the POV of its unlikely protagonist.

No word yet on who is to star.
