“Pretty Little Liars” Spinoff “The Perfectionists” Gets Series Order and Teaser

"The Perfectionists": Freeform/Allyson Riggs

“Pretty Little Liars'” ended its seven-season run in 2017, but the franchise has plenty of plot twists in store. Deadline confirms that Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish are set to reprise their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal on “The Perfectionists,” which just scored a 10-episode order from Freeform. The spinoff hails from “Pretty Little Liars” creator I. Marlene King and is based on “PLL” author Sara Shepard’s book series of the same name.

Set in the seemingly perfect town of Beacon Heights, the new series sees Alison moving from Rosewood to Oregon to join the faculty of a university. A newly released teaser shows her telling a cab driver she doesn’t know a soul in the state, but it’s not long before Mona’s unexpectedly at her front door with a pie. Mona’s presence isn’t explained in the spot, but she warns that “someone is about to snap. And kill.”

The source offers more context: “The Perfectionists” follows “a group of three college friends [who] struggle with the stress of being overachievers. In the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie, and an alibi.”

Besides Pieterse and Parrish, the cast includes Sofia Carson (“Descendants”), Kelly Rutherford (“Gossip Girl”), Sydney Park (“The Walking Dead”), Graeme Thomas King, and Eli Brown.

No word on whether “PLL” alumnae Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, and Shay Mitchell will make cameos.

Check out the teaser below. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (“Empire”) helmed the pilot.
