Princess Leia and Orphan Black to Get Their Own Comic Books

The 47% of comic-book readers who are female have something new to celebrate: Princess Leia and Orphan Black are coming to newsstands.

At San Diego Comic Con, Marvel announced that the first of three new Star Wars titles will be devoted to Princess Leia. There are no clues yet about the new comic’s timeline, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed that it won’t be set during Leia’s stint as Jabba the Hutt’s captive.

Meanwhile, IDW revealed that it will launch a comic-book series set in the Orphan Black universe that will debut in 2015. IDW is the publisher of several TV-based comic books, including those based on Doctor Who, The X-Files, and Angel. The company commented that the comic-book series “will not be a clone of the TV show, but will feature some all-new stories set in the complex and thrilling world of Orphan Black.” The above image, created by artist Nick Runge, will be the series’ first cover.
