Queen Latifah is set to star in another genre project. The Academy Award-nominated actress already has a gender-swapped “Equalizer” reboot in the works at CBS and now she’s set to star in a Netflix thriller. “End of the Road” will reteam her with prolific TV director Millicent Shelton. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.

“End of the Road” tells the story of Brenda, “a recent widow who, after losing her job, drives her family cross-country to start a new life. In the New Mexico desert, cut off from help, they must learn to fight back when they become the targets of a mysterious killer,” the source details.

Latifah is among the pic’s exec producers.

Shelton’s many TV credits include “P-Valley,” “Black-ish,” “The Walking Dead,” “Insecure,” and “Empire.” She previously collaborated with Latifah on “Star,” a Fox musical drama that she directed two episodes of and Latifah co-starred in and produced.

Latifah received an Oscar nod for “Chicago.” Ryan Murphy Netflix drama “Hollywood,” Quibi detective story “When the Streetlights Go On,” and ABC’s “The Little Mermaid Live!” are among her most recent projects. “Equalizer” will see her playing a mysterious figure who uses her wide-ranging skills to help desperate souls with no one else to turn to.
