Fast and the Furious star Michelle Rodriguez is known for playing tough, take charge, bad ass women for much of her career in films like Girl Fight, Avatar, Resident Evil and on television in Lost.
In a recent interview for the upcoming Fast and the Furious movie, Rodriguez speaks about her frustration with the writing for female characters in Hollywood.
It’s so hard to find really good writers. It’s a fairly new, last-twenty-year thing to have strong, independent, free-spirited women on film. Eighty percent of the writers are guys, most of them are married in Beverly Hills and they’re married to some woman who obviously annoys them or they wouldn’t write the way they write.
Rodriguez also notes that it’s really a matter of getting more women writers into Hollywood–a personal goal she’s working on. She has always wanted to write more.
And that’s exactly what she’s doing. Rodriguez is currently working on three different projects, one about drugs called Sedated; another about a secret society of women called Matriarch Society and a children’s movie about the environment called Kingdom Come.
