Rebel Wilson to Headline “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” Remake

Rebel Wilson has signed on to star in a “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” remake. MGM is developing the project.

The original 1998 comedy starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine as con-men who plot to trick a heiress and steal her fortune.

Variety writes that the remake will bring “con artistry to the 21st century — two female scam artists, one low rent and the other high class, compete to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune.” No word on who Wilson’s partner in crime will be.

The “Pitch Perfect” actress will produce with Pin High Productions’ Roger Birnbaum.

Jac Schaeffer wrote the script. She also penned the upcoming sci-fi comedy “The Shower,” set to star Anne Hathaway. The Black List script centers on a baby shower that gets party-crashed by alien invaders.

Wilson has been inked to headline a “Private Benjamin” remake since 2014. “Pitch Perfect 3” doesn’t open until December 2017, but you can catch Wilson making a cameo in “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie,” in theaters now.
