Reese Witherspoon, Issa Rae, and Niki Caro Among This Year’s Gracie Award Winners

Rae in “Insecure”: HBO

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) has announced the winners of the 43rd annual Gracie Awards. Set to take place May 22 in Los Angeles, the event celebrates programming created by, for, and about women. This year’s honorees include Reese Witherspoon, who is being recognized for her acting in HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” which she also exec produced, and fellow HBO actress Issa Rae, who is taking home a trophy for her performance in “Insecure,” which she also co-created.

The Gracie Awards don’t just honor acting. Niki Caro is set to receive an award for directing Netflix and CBC’s “Anne of Green Gables” adaptation “Anne with an E.” ABC News’ “Ashley Judd Speaks” interview special will also be recognized. The actress spoke with Diane Sawyer about her experiences with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

“In a historic and momentous year for women, on and off the camera and in front of and behind the microphone, the Gracie Awards arrive at an important time to celebrate the storytellers who are changing the narrative and pushing boundaries in the quest toward diversity and equality,” said AWMF Chair Christine Travaglini, President, Katz Radio Group. “And as we enter our 43rd year, we at AWM, through the Gracies, are incredibly proud help usher in a new era by honoring and celebrating outstanding talent and content for, by, and about women.”

Check out all of the winners below. Local and Student Award Winners will be honored at the Gracie Awards Luncheon on June 27 in New York City.
