New details have surfaced about the previously-untitled Sarah Jessica Parker romantic drama. The project, which will see Parker play a singer, now has a title and supporting cast. According to Deadline, “Best Day of My Life” will also star Renée Zellweger and Isabella Rossellini. Principal photography will kick off this week in New York City.
Per Deadline, “Best Day of My Life” centers on New York jazz vocalist Vivienne (Parker) “who lives her life for herself and for her art.” After she receives an earth-shattering diagnosis, audiences “follow Vivienne over a compressed 24-hour window as we see her prepare for an upcoming world tour, navigate her relationships and familial obligations, and reflect on her life’s successes and failures.”
In addition to Zellweger and Rossellini, Parker’s character will also encounter Common (Ava DuVernay’s “Selma”), Simon Baker (“The Mentalist”), Taylor Kinney (“Zero Dark Thirty”), and Gus Birney (“The Mist”).
This project is Parker’s second collaboration with production company AMBI. AMBI’s Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi produced Parker’s 2016 romantic comedy “All Roads Lead to Rome.” “Best Day of My Life” is written by Laura Eason (“House of Cards”) and directed by Fabien Constant (“Mademoiselle C”).
Zellweger was last seen in Sharon Maguire’s “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” the sequel to romantic comedies “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.” The Oscar winner also recently starred in Courtney Hunt’s 2016 legal drama “The Whole Truth.” You can catch her next in “Same Kind of Different as Me,” a drama about a rag tag group on a road trip, in theaters October 20.
Rossellini stars as Rita Marks in Hulu’s “Shut Eye,” a drama series about phony psychic and the scams he runs in Los Angeles. “Enemy,” “Mammas,” “Chicken with Plums,” “30 Rock,” and “Blue Velvet” are among the credits on her stacked resume.
