Rihanna’s world domination continues.
Two weeks before the release of “Home,” in which the “Diamonds” singer voices a resourceful teenager who befriends a banished alien, Rihanna announced that she’d be the subject of a new documentary. Director Peter Berg has implied that the untitled project will be something more substantial than a 90-minute promotional video like “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” or “One Direction: This Is Us,” promising instead a final product that’s “much more a character study than a music film” about the Top 40 staple’s rise to fame. Rihanna and Berg previously worked together on the action film “Battleship.”
Rihanna also made headlines last week by signing on as Dior’s first black brand ambassador in the the French fashion house’s five decades in business. To paraphrase Geena Davis, it’s ridiculous that we would have the first black woman anything in the 21st century — but better late than never. “It is such a big deal, for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls, of any color,” commented Rihanna about the sponsorship agreement.
