Roadside Attractions Picks up Stories We Tell and Imogene

Roadside Attractions has been on a buying binge here in Toronto and has picked up two women directed and written films from TIFF.

The first is Sarah Polley’s documentary, Stories We Tell, which she both wrote and directed. The film explores digs deep into Polley family secrets. It has also screened at Venice and Telluride to excellent reviews. Roadside is looking to release the film in early 2013.

Lionsgate and Roadside also picked up Imogene co-directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini and written by Michelle Morgan. Starring Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening, Imogene is about a failing playwright whose staged suicide attempt to hold onto her cheating boyfriend lands her in the care of her dysfunctional family. As of now, there is no set release date.
