Rosamund Pike, Lesli Linka Glatter, & Meredith Stiehm Team Up for “Banker’s Wife” Series

Pike in "Beirut": Sife Eddine El Amine/Bleecker

Following recent turns in “A Private War” and “Beirut,” Rosamund Pike has signed on to another dramatic, action-packed thriller. Deadline has revealed the “Gone Girl” actress is joining forces with prolific TV director Lesli Linka Glatter (“Homeland”) and writer-producer Meredith Stiehm (“The Bridge”) for a TV adaptation of “The Banker’s Wife.” Based on Cristina Alger’s book of the same name, the project is set against the world of global finance and sees two women trying to find out the truth behind a mysterious plane crash.

“As these women shine a light on hidden offshore accounts meant to be kept in the dark, they will become embedded in the crosshairs of danger within a larger conspiracy of money laundering, powerful politicians and a web of terrorists and criminals, thus transforming their lives forever,” the source details.

“The Banker’s Wife” hails from Federation Entertainment and “Pose” producer Sherry Marsh. Glatter will direct and Stiehm is writing the adaptation. Both will executive produce alongside Pike. The project is currently being shopped to cable networks and streamers.

Alger reportedly drew inspiration from the Panama Papers — leaked documents that exposed how the clients at law firm Mossack Fonseca illegally laundered money around the world — while writing “The Banker’s Wife.” It hit shelves this past July, and is her third book after “The Darlings” and “This Was Not The Plan.”

Pike received a best actress Oscar nomination in 2015 for her turn as the sociopathic housewife-turned-criminal mastermind in “Gone Girl.” She portrays the real-life war correspondent Marie Colvin in “A Private War,” set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 14. The film hits theaters November 2. Marjane Satrapi’s “Radioactive,” a biopic about scientist team and spouses Marie and Pierre Curie, is among her upcoming projects.

Glatter has nabbed five directing Emmy nods for her work on “Homeland” and “Mad Men.” She won a DGA Award for her work on both. “Law & Order True Crime” and “Six” are among her recent credits.

Stiehm created the long-running procedural “Cold Case” and co-created the Mexico border-set mystery series “The Bridge.” She won a best drama Emmy for exec producing “Homeland,” and netted a best drama writing nomination for “NYPD Blue” and a WGA Award for “Homeland.” She’s also written for and produced “ER” and “The District.”
