Rose Rollins is taking center court. The “L Word” and “Bosch” alumna will star in “Long Slow Exhale,” a drama set in the world of women’s college basketball from creator/showrunner Pam Veasey (“L.A.’s Finest”). The project landed a straight-to-series order from Spectrum, where it will launch, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Following a nine-month exclusive window, the show will then air on BET.

The 12-episode series will see Rollins playing J.C. Abernathy, “a head coach of a women’s college basketball team who finds herself in the middle of a sexual abuse scandal.” Veasey will exec produce, as will Bruna Papandrea (“Big Little Lies”).

Veasey wrote for and exec produced “L.A.’s Finest,” a “Bad Boys” spinoff series starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba that marked Spectrum’s first scripted original.

Paramount Television Studios president Nicole Clemens said that “beyond its appeal as a compelling mystery drama,” “Long Slow Exhale” also “explores so many issues at the forefront of our culture, told in the high-stakes, adrenaline-filled arena of elite women’s college basketball.”

“Hap and Leonard,” “CSI: NY,” and “In Living Color” are among Veasey’s many writing-producing credits. She received two Emmy nominations for her writing work on the latter.

Rollins’ best-known roles include “The L Word’s” Tasha Williams, a closeted lesbian soldier who wonders if coming out is worth risking her career. More recently, she has starred in “Condor” and “The Catch.”
