The San Francisco International Film Festival (SFFILM) has announced its 2022 lineup, and 56 percent of this year’s films “are helmed by female or non-binary filmmakers and 52 percent are directed by BIPOC filmmakers,” per a press release from the fest.
Set to take place from April 21 to May 1, the 65th edition of the fest features more than 130 films from 56 countries. Titles set to screen include Abi Damaris Corbin’s “892,” a thriller about a bank heist led by “Star Wars'” John Boyega, and Trinh T. Minh-ha’s video essay examining China nearly half a century after the Cultural Revolution, “What About China?” Débora Souza Silva’s “Black Mothers Love & Resist,” a documentary about two mothers of young Black men victimized by police brutality, is also among the films at the fest.
Programming includes a special tribute to “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star Michelle Yeoh presented by “Killing Eve’s” Sandra Oh.
