Best known for her role as Dr. Elliot Reid on “Scrubs,” Sarah Chalke is re-teaming with the creator of the medical comedy for a new project. Bill Lawrence is among the exec producers on an untitled dramedy starring Chalke in development at ABC, Variety reports. Inspired by Chalke’s life, the one-hour show hails from Emily Fox (“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”), who is also among its exec producers. Chalke will co-exec produce, and Liza Katzer (“Life Sentence”) is producing.
The project tells the story of “two very different sisters who take over the adoption agency that their parents, a lawyer and a social worker, have run out of their home for the last 30 years,” according to the source.
Chalke recently returned to “Roseanne” for the sitcom’s ABC revival. Though she played Becky in the original run, she took on the role of a new character, Andrea, in the updated take on the Conner family.
“Paradise PD,” “Rick and Morty,” and “How I Met Your Mother” are among Chalke’s other credits.
