Sarah Michelle Gellar Will Lead and Exec Produce “Other People’s Houses” for Fox

Sarah Michelle Gellar is reuniting with the creators of “Ringer.” The Emmy-nominated actress is set to topline and exec produce a dramedy from Nicole Snyder and Eric Charmelo that’s in development at Fox, Deadline reports.

Based on Abbi Waxman’s 2018 novel of the same name, the project is described as being “somewhere between ‘Big Little Lies’ and ‘Catastrophe'” and tells the story of nine people living in the “quiet, affluent neighborhood of Larchmont Village in Los Angeles. Using the lens of social media, our characters navigate their way through emotional ups and downs, as they try to figure out their lives as partners, parents, friends, and neighbors. And in the middle of the block — and the center of the drama — are our two main characters, two mothers (one stay-at-home, one working) Frances Bloom and Anne Porter, played by Gellar,” the source summarizes.

Snyder and Charmelo are penning “Other People’s Houses.” The project has a script commitment.

“Ringer” marked Gellar’s first starring role on TV since her iconic, Golden Globe-nominated turn as a teen who took on vampires and demons in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” A soapy thriller about twins whose lives turned out very differently, “Ringer” premiered on The CW in 2011 and ran for one season.

Snyder and Charmelo most recently co-wrote Allison Williams-starrer “The Perfection.”

Gellar has another small screen project in the works. The “Ring” actress is signed on to topline and exec produce “Sometimes I Lie,” a limited series adaptation of of Alice Feeney’s 2017 novel of the same name. Ellen DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production and Warner Bros. TV are developing the project, which centers on a woman who wakes up on the hospital unable to move, speak, or open her eyes. Robin Swicord (“Wakefield,” “Little Women”) is writing the script.
