Sarah Streicher’s Amazon Pilot “The Wilds” Ordered to Series, Amy B. Harris Will Showrun

The project sounds like a mashup of "Mean Girls" and "Lost"

Amazon’s newest show will be “Mean Girls” meets “Lost” or more specifically, “part survival drama, part dystopic slumber party.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer has picked up Sarah Streicher’s pilot “The Wilds,” which sees a group of very different teenage girls stranded on a desert island following a plane crash. Amy B. Harris (“Sex and the City”) has been brought on as showrunner.

Streicher (“Daredevil”) created “The Wilds” and “The Spy Who Dumped Me” director Susanna Fogel helmed its pilot. Streicher and Harris are exec producing the project, an ABC Signature Studios co-production.

“Coming of age is not for the faint of heart. It can take as much grit and fire to survive our teenage years as it would to survive, say, on a deserted island,” Streicher remarked. “‘The Wilds’ grew from that notion, and it’s afforded me an opportunity to explore teenage-hood in all of its perils, joys, and heartbreaks. I’m beyond thrilled that it’s found a home at Amazon.”

“We are thrilled to share this exciting original vision with our global audience,” said Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke . “We are proud to be the home for this authentically voiced, high-stakes show brought to life by the talented Sarah Streicher, Amy Harris, and our ABC Signature Studios partners.”

As THR notes, this is the second woman-created, young adult-aimed series Amazon has picked up this month. The streamer also ordered Lauren Oliver’s “Panic” to series. Set in a small, stagnant town, the show follows high school seniors as they compete for a way out and a huge cash prize in an illegal, highly dangerous game.
