Kristin Scott Thomas has secured a star performer for her directorial debut, “My Mother’s Wedding.” Scarlett Johansson has joined the feature film project which is currently in production. Sienna Miller (“American Woman”), Emily Beecham (“Little Joe”), and Freida Pinto (“Slumdog Millionaire”) are also among the cast. Deadline broke the news.
Scott Thomas will direct from a script that she wrote with John Micklethwait, but plot details are currently under wraps. Finola Dwyer (“Brooklyn,” “Their Finest”) and Steven Rales will produce.
It’s unclear if this is a retitling of Scott Thomas’ previously-announced project, “The Sea Change,” though the cast and crew details mentioned by the source would suggest not.
Johansson’s most recent screen credits include Marvel’s “Black Widow” and “Jojo Rabbit.” Her other upcoming projects include “Project Artemis,” penned by Rose Gilroy.
Scott Thomas was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in “The English Patient.” She has gone on to star in numerous English- and French-language productions, including Sally Potter’s “The Party,” and was most recently nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her appearance in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s “Fleabag.”
