“Secret Bridesmaids’ Business” Adaptation from Deirdre Shaw in the Works at NBC

"Secret Bridesmaids’ Business"

“Secret Bridesmaids’ Business” is heading stateside. NBC is developing a drama based on Seven Studios’ Australian miniseries, according to Variety.

Titled “Ties That Bind,” the project hails from “Jane the Virgin” alumna Deirdre Shaw, Keshet Studios, and Universal Television. The thriller sees “three women make a promise to one another that leads them to embark on dangerous secrets that threaten to implode their lives. Facing dire consequences, they must rely on the power of their friendship to survive.”

Abbie Cornish (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Katie McGrath (“Supergirl”), and Georgina Haig (“Once Upon a Time”) lead “Secret Bridesmaids,” which is an adaptation of Elizabeth Coleman’s stage play inspired by her 1999 book of the same name. The six-part series aired on Seven Network in 2019.

Shaw is among “Ties That Bind’s” exec producers. She served as a writer and producer on “Jane the Virgin.” Her other credits include “Stumptown” and “American Gothic.”
