Sherry Lansing Biography Scheduled for 2016 Release

Sherry Lansing, the first female head of a major film studio, will be the subject of a new biography to be penned by Hollywood Reporter editor Stephen Galloway.

The as-yet-untitled book will be Lansing’s first (non-self-published) biography. Lansing became the first woman president of 20th Century Fox in 1980 at the age of 35. She later led Paramount from 1992 to 2005. Among her many producing projects were Fatal Attraction, The Accused, and Indecent Proposal. She also oversaw Forrest Gump, Braveheart, and Titanic during her tenure atop Paramount, which enjoyed its longest series of hits since the 1930s under her management.

Lansing left the film industry in 2005 and has raised funds for cancer research since for her foundation.

“Sherry Lansing started out as a struggling actress and rose to become the most powerful woman Hollywood has ever known,” Galloway commented. “She’s a groundbreaking figure.”
