We’re going to be seeing lots of Sigourney Weaver on the big screen in Pandora, but the “Avatar” actress also has a series on the way. The three-time Oscar nominee is starring in “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart,” an Amazon original that’s begun filming in Australia. Variety broke the news.
Described as a “a courageous tale of female resilience,” the project is based on Holly Ringland’s best-selling novel of the same name. “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” tells the story of a nine-year-old girl “who loses both her parents in a mysterious fire and is sent to live with her grandmother, played by Weaver, on a flower farm,” the source summarizes. “There she learns dark secrets about herself and her family.”
Sarah Lambert (“Love Child”) is penning the adaptation and serving as showrunner.
“The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” is slated to debut in 2022.
Weaver received Oscar nods for “Aliens,” “Working Girl,” and “Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey.” Last seen in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” she has a slew of “Avatar” installments set for release in the coming years, the soonest being “Avatar 2” in 2022. Weaver is reprising her role as Dr. Grace Augustine.
