Smallville’s Super Girl, Laura Vandervoort, to Produce Series About Girl with Superpowers

Laura Vandervoort, who played Supergirl Kara on Smallville, has created Super Duper Deelia, a series for young girls.

Vandervoort, who will also executive produce, explained her motivations for creating the series.

I was a tomboy growing up and didn’t like princesses, ponies or pink. With my Supergirl background and fan base, I thought it would be great to develop a
series that speaks to girls like me.

The series will follow the adventures of Deelia, a 10-year-old, who gains superpowers on her birthday. She struggles with how to use her newly discovered powers and looks to the advice of her friends, her grandmother and a talking dog.

Shaftesbury will produce alongside John May and Suzanne Bolch of Heroic Television. Bolch, May and Christina Jennings will executive produce.
