“Somebody Somewhere” was a recent pick of the day here at Women and Hollywood, and it seems we’re not the only fans — HBO has just confirmed via press release that the show, which is still airing, will return for a second season.
The semi-autobiographical dramedy inspired by star Bridget Everett’s own family in Kansas, from creators and showrunners Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, bowed to rave reviews upon its January premiere. It follows Everett’s Sam, a test grader struggling with loneliness and mourning the loss of her sister, while trying to handle the discord among her remaining family members.
Said Amy Gravitt, exec vice president of HBO programming: “Bridget Everett brings such warmth to the screen, it’s been an absolute joy to see audiences share a sense of belonging with this ensemble. We’re delighted to have Hannah and Paul remind us all where we come from in another season of ‘Somebody Somewhere.'”
Everett also serves as an exec producer on the show. Her previous credits include “Unbelievable,” “Camping,” and “Patti Cake$.”
Bos is also the co-writer of feature “Driveways,” and has written for TV’s “High Maintenance” and “Mozart in the Jungle.”
“Somebody Somewhere” is available to watch on HBO and HBO Max. The season one finale airs February 27.
