“Spice Girls” Doc in the Works at Channel 4

"Spice World": Columbia Pictures

Clare Cameron and Rob Coldstream are readying to spice up your life. The directing duo behind Channel 4’s “Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain” are working on a Spice Girls documentary for the British network.

Tentatively titled “Girl Powered: The Spice Girls,” the project “will tap archive footage and revealing interviews to provide a complete portrait of the British girl band who shot to fame in the 1990s,” Deadline reports.

The pop group, which has sold over 85 million records worldwide, comprises Victoria Beckham (“Posh Spice”), Melanie Brown, AKA Mel B (“Scary Spice”), Geri Halliwell (“Ginger Spice”), Melanie Chisholm, AKA Mel C (“Sporty Spice”), and Emma Bunton (“Baby Spice”). The Spice Girls became international superstars upon the release of their debut single, 1996’s “Wannabe.” “Say You’ll Be There,” “Stop,” and “Spice Up Your Life” are among their many hits.

“Spice World,” a musical comedy pic starring the Spice Girls, opened in theaters in 1997 and became a box office hit.
