Stacey Abrams has a new series in the works at CBS. The network has put “Never Tell,” a drama based on Abrams’ book of the same name, in development. The project hails from Abrams, writer Talicia Raggs, and Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi’s PatMa Productions. Deadline confirmed the news.
Published under Abrams’ nom de plume, Selena Montgomery, “Never Tell” “revolves around a star linguistics professor with a complicated past who joins forces with a charismatic online investigative journalist following the discovery of a cryptic message that is the only clue in a missing persons case, setting them off on a partnership working cases with the New Orleans Police Department,” the source hints. Raggs (“NCIS: New Orleans”) is penning the script.
Best known for her role in politics as the former Georgia House Minority leader and the first African American to lead in the House of Representatives, Abrams has also published other novels under her pen name: “Hidden Sins,” “Secrets and Lies,” “Reckless,” and “Deception.” Her 2018 non-fiction book “Minority Leader: How to Lead from the Outside and Make Real Change” is published under her own name.
“Leadership requires the ability to engage and to create empathy for communities with disparate needs and ideas. Telling an effective story — especially in romantic suspense — demands a similar skill set,” the politician and author has said. “Effective storytelling takes the reader into a life that is both familiar and foreign, enough of both to make space for others to feel empowered to tell their stories.”
