“Jumanji’s” Karen Gillan, “Game of Thrones'” Lena Headey, “9-1-1’s” Angela Bassett, “Crazy Rich Asians'” Michelle Yeoh, and “The Haunting of Hill House’s” Carla Gugino are teaming up to kick ass. STX has snagged North American, Latin American, and Chinese distribution rights to “Gunpowder Milkshake,” an action thriller led by the five stars, in a “splashy eight-figure deal.” Deadline broke the news.
“Gunpowder Milkshake” tells the story of “three generations of female assassins who fight to stop a cycle of violence over the course of one night.”
“Big Bad Wolves” filmmaker Navot Papushado penned the script alongside Ehud Lavski and the former directed.
A wide theatrical release is being planned for the U.S.
Another female-led genre pic with a star-studded cast, spy thriller “355,” is also in the pipeline. Expected to hit theaters January 2021, its cast includes Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Fan Bingbing, and Diane Kruger.
Reed Morano’s “The Rhythm Section” centers on a woman who becomes an assassin to avenge her murdered family. The Blake Lively-starrer is in theaters now.
