Sonequa Martin-Green’s Michael Burnham will be going on even more intergalactic adventures. Entertainment Weekly reports that the Martin-Green-led “Star Trek: Discovery” has been renewed for Season 2 at CBS All Access, CBS’ streaming platform. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts will continue to serve as “Discovery’s” showrunners.
“In just six episodes, ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ has driven subscriber growth, critical acclaim, and huge global fan interest for the first premium version of this great franchise,” said Marc DeBevoise, CBS Interactive’s prez. “This series has a remarkable creative team and cast who have demonstrated their ability to carry on the ‘Star Trek’ legacy.”
Set 10 years before the events of the original “Star Trek,” “Discovery” follows Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery. The sci-fi series also stars Mary Wiseman (“Longmire”), Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter” franchise), Anthony Rapp (“The Good Fight”), Shazad Latif (“Penny Dreadful”), and Doug Jones (“The Strain”). Michelle Yeoh played a major part of the series’ two-part September debut. While her character, Captain Georgiou, was seemingly killed off, Yeoh will reportedly return to “Discovery” at some point.
You can catch new episodes of “Star Trek: Discovery” Sundays on CBS All Access.
