Stephanie Laing is bringing a critically acclaimed Dutch TV series stateside. The two-time Emmy winner has been tapped to direct and exec produce an untitled NBC drama pilot based on “A’dam – E.V.A.” Deadline broke the news.
The series “chronicles the epic love and lives of two complete strangers whose multiple run-ins begin to defy coincidence and lead both to believe in fate. The show breaks the mold by pairing a serialized, stand-up-and-cheer romantic comedy with the wildly diverse and often unexpected human stories of anyone who finds themselves six degrees from Adam and Eva,” per the source.
The original series ran from 2011 to 2016.
Laing, whose recent credits include star-studded ensemble comedy pic “Family Squares” and episodes of Apple TV+’s Rose Byrne-starrer “Physical,” won Emmys for her work on “Veep” and “Tracey Takes On…” “Made for Love,” “Dollface,” and “Divorce” are among her other small screen credits.
“Keep trying and walk through the fear,” Laing urged when we asked her advice for other women directors. “There’s no clear path and you just have to focus on the work and keep going. It’s not easy — nothing is — but in the end you can get there.”
