If you’re a U.S. filmmaker from an underrepresented community — or one who is dedicated to inclusion in film — this is for you. Amazon Prime Video is hosting the All Voices Film Festival, a short film competition supporting projects by and/or about marginalized groups, “such as people of color and ethnic, gender, and religious minorities, LGBTQ people, veterans, and people with disabilities,” Variety reports. Submissions are now being accepted.
Applicants will produce and shoot a short — 40 minutes or less in length — and self-publish it to Prime Video so U.S. viewers can watch it. Judges from Amazon Studios, Prime Video, and IMDb will evaluate the top-performing titles’ customer engagement and select their favorite shorts. The winning filmmaking team will receive $25,000 and a tour of Amazon Studios in Culver City, California. Four other finalists will be awarded $10,000 each. All of the five top films will be featured on Prime Video and screened at special events in Seattle and LA.
“At Amazon Studios, we are looking for passionate storytellers who reflect and represent all backgrounds, specifically so that we can share their experiences and stories. We created this opportunity because we wanted a way for underrepresented voices to be heard,” said fest judge Latasha Gillespie, who is also head of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Amazon Studios.
The All Voices submissions period will be open until May 20 at 11:59pm EST.
Additional eligibility requirements and details on how to enter can be found on Amazon.
