Pano, formerly known as NYC Women Filmmakers, is now accepting submissions for its second round of microgrants. Designed to assist projects and develop the careers of women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming filmmakers in the Pano Network, the $500 microgrants can be used for pre-production, production, or post, as well as festival/competition submission fees, film education and training, and equipment rental or purchase.
“We created the Microgrant program to provide direct monetary support to our members in all phases of their project and career development and offer aid for traditional underserved categories that are pertinent to a filmmaker or project’s success,” Pano founder Cidney Hue said in a press release.
Ten microgrants will be presented to Pano members. Projects supporting underrepresented filmmakers and/or count Pano members in key leadership roles will be prioritized.
Additionally, Pano is working with Advisory Board member, colorist, and finishing artist Marika Litz to provide color grading services (valued at $3,500) to one short film.
In the first round of microgrants, presented last summer, Jeanette Bonner, Stephanie Choriatis, Alanah Rafferty, and Imran Siddiquee received production cost funds. Shubhangi Shekhar and Miranda Plant were awarded post-production microgrants, Laura Sampson Hemingway and Apolla Echino festival/competition fees microgrants, Priya Karki a training microgrant, and DeAngela Napier an equipment microgrant.
Filmmakers must be members of the Pano Network in order to submit for the second round of microgrants. The deadline is May 1. Find out more on Pano’s website.
