Movies about women over 50 are, unfortunately, few and far between. Women Over 50 Film Festival (WOFFF) is dedicated to celebrating older women on both sides of the camera. Based in England, the fest is now accepting submissions for its 2019 edition. Every film screened at at the WOFFF must have a woman over 50 at its center or a woman over 50 in the core creative team. which refers to writers, producers, and directors.
The fest’s 2018 slate included screenings of 58 shorts and two features. WOFFF also features panel events, lectures, and workshops.
“All films selected for screening at WOFFF are eligible for our competition,” the fest details on its FilmFreeway page. “Films are judged by professionals from each category field — animation, experimental, drama, and documentary. Our audience also votes for its favorite film which is given an Audience Choice Award.”
