Sundance Now has become the U.S. partner for “Cheat,” an upcoming psychological thriller from British network ITV. Deadline reports that the SVOD platform will bring the four-part series to U.S. audiences.
Created by Gaby Hull, the project stars Katherine Kelly (“The Night Manager,” “Coronation Street”) as a university professor who engages in a “dangerous relationship” with her student (Molly Windsor, “Three Girls”) and “is thrust into a case of academic deception, which has fatal consequences,” the source hints.
Louise Hooper (“Lucky Man,” “Vera”) will direct every episode.
Lydia Hampson (“Fleabag”) is serving as producer.
“’Cheat’ is a fiendishly engaging four part drama which I’m delighted to commission from screenwriting newcomer, Gaby Hull,” said ITV drama chief Polly Hill. “It’s a tense and taut thriller packed with intriguing plot that promises to have audiences on the edge of their seat.”
Back in March ITV ordered a six-part period drama from “Bend It Like Beckham” writer-director Gurinder Chadha. Set in India, “Beecham House” tells the story of a mysterious former soldier who now works as a trader.
