Sundance Trailer Watch: Middle of Nowhere — Written and Directed by Ava Duvernay

I am so impressed by this woman and how she is making movies about African American women on her terms. I really liked her first film, I Will Follow. We will try and cover this at Sundance, but here is a taste.

Here’s the description of the film: “Middle of Nowhere” follows a woman named Ruby who loses her husband to incarceration and loses herself in the process. Eventually, she becomes torn between two world — and two men — on the journey back to herself.”

Newcomer Emayatzy Corinealdi stars as Ruby.

Writer-director Ava DuVernay’s second feature explores how a woman’s love is changed when her husband is sent to prison. (Hollywood Reporter)
