Oscilloscope Laboratories has landed U.S. rights to “Saint Frances,” which won the Audience Award for narrative feature and a special jury prize for breakthrough voice at SXSW this year. Oscilloscope is planning a theatrical release followed by a launch on digital platforms, Variety reports. No word on an official premiere date yet.
Starring and written by Kelly O’Sullivan (“Sirens”), the pic sees Bridget, a struggling 34-year-old, catching a break and getting a job as a nanny to six-year-old Frances (Ramona Edith-Williams). Unfortunately, Bridget’s stroke of good luck is dampened by an unplanned pregnancy.
“Saint Frances” marks the feature directorial debut of Alex Thompson. Since its SXSW premiere, it has made the festival rounds, screening at Chicago Critics Film Fest, Outfest, and more.
O’Sullivan won Traverse City Film Fest’s Nora Ephron Prize for the script. She also exec produced “Saint Frances.”
She previously wrote, directed, exec produced, and starred in the short “Ladies’ Night” alongside Carly Olson. O’Sullivan’s other screen credits include “Olympia” and “Battleground.”
