Tatiana Maslany will next be seen on screens in next week’s premiere of Marvel’s “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” but she already has her sights set on another project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maslany has signed on to star in and executive produce the previously announced AMC Networks drama “Invitation to a Bonfire.”
As noted before, Rachel Caris Love, who created the series, will serve as showrunner and will also exec produce, along with Robin Schwartz (“Vida,” “Sorry For Your Loss”). Carolyn Daucher (“Long Distance”) is producing.
Inspired by the codependent marriage of “Lolita” novelist Vladimir Nabokov and his wife, Vera, the series is “set at a girls boarding school in the 1930s,” the source details. “It follows Zoya (Freya Mavor, ‘Industry’), a young Russian immigrant and groundskeeper at the school, who’s drawn into a lethal love triangle with the school’s newest faculty member, the enigmatic novelist Leo Orlov (Pilou Asbaek, ‘Game of Thrones’), and his beguiling wife, Vera (Maslany).
Dan McDermott, AMC Networks Entertainment and AMC Studios president, said: “Tatiana is a singular talent who we’ve wanted to bring back to the AMC Networks family since her iconic and career-defining performance in ‘Orphan Black.’ We’re thrilled to have her join ‘Invitation to a Bonfire’s’ talented cast and watch her bring to life the wild flame that is Vera Orlov, both on-screen and behind the scenes as an executive producer.”
Maslany won an Emmy award for her work on clone drama “Orphan Black,” which saw her play multiple roles throughout its five seasons. She was nominated a further two times, also earned a Golden Globes nod, and won two Critics Choice Television Awards. She has since appeared in feature film “Pink Wall,” which she co-produced, and featured in the first season of HBO’s “Perry Mason” remake. She will star as the titular She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters, in Marvel’s next upcoming series, which premieres August 18.
Love previously served as a writer and producer on NBC’s “Blindspot,” and has co-exec produced episodes of Annie Weisman’s comedy-drama set in the world of aerobics, “Physical.”
