“The Secret Garden” is coming back to the screen. Another adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved 1911 children’s novel is heading to theaters in spring 2020, and a new teaser for the fantasy pic has been released.
“Shall I tell you a story?” asks Mary (Dixie Egerickx). “It’s the story of an orphan girl from a faraway land who was sent to live in a mysterious house.”
The 12-year-old was born in India, but following her parents’ death, she is sent to live with her uncle on his remote estate in the Yorkshire moors. It’s there that Mary discovers something “magical” and “secret” — a garden “capable of extraordinary things.”
Previous adaptations of “The Secret Garden” include Agnieszka Holland’s 1993 take on the story, which saw Kate Maberly (“Finding Neverland) playing Mary.
