Teaser Watch: Gina Brillon Talks Misleading Photos and Dating Apps in “The Floor is Lava”

"Gina Brillon: The Floor is Lava"

Gina Brillon’s third stand-up special has a premiere date and teaser. Amazon will drop “The Floor is Lava” June 5. Described as a “journey of love, laughter, and heart” with the first and only Latina winner of NBC’s Stand up for Diversity Showcase, the special sees Brillon tackling her childhood, culture, and the transition from single life to marrying a Midwestern man.

“I got duped by a lot of those dating apps because someone taught guys about high angles and filters,” Brillon tells the audience. “I don’t look like how I’m supposed to look. You don’t look like how you’re supposed to look. How are we going to find each other at this restaurant?”

Brillon’s previous one-hour special, “Pacifically Speaking,” aired on NuvoTV. Her latest half-hour special, “Easily Offended,” is now streaming on all HBO digital platforms.

Check out the teaser for “Gina Brillon: The Floor is Lava” to see when the singer, writer, and poet first realized “white people buy houses they don’t live in.”
