Teaser Watch: “Harley Quinn” and Poison Ivy Are on an “Eat Bang Kill” Tour in Season 3

"Harley Quinn"

Gotham’s baddest, coolest, funniest supervillainesses are back — and officially “BFF GFFs.” After riding off into the sunset together at the end of last season, “Harley Quinn’s” titular character (Kaley Cuoco) and her bestie-turned-lover, Poison Ivy (Lake Bell), are embarking on a romantic “Eat Bang Kill” tour. A teaser for the HBO Max animated series’ long-awaited third season has dropped.

For their two-week anniversary, Harley surprises Ivy by kidnapping Suicide Squad head Amanda Waller. “What is it with you and, like, bags of people?” Ivy wonders before telling Harley to lay off the drama. “What’s she gonna do?” Harley retorts. “She’s wearing a pencil skirt!”

The spot also sees Harley and Ivy reuniting with their friends and partners-in-crime Clayface (Alan Tudyk) and King Shark (Ron Funches). At Clayface’s remark that the new couple looks “radiant,” Harley bashfully replies, “Aw, thanks, we’ve been doing a ton of bangin’.”

Set to a cover of Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” the teaser gives us glimpses of recurring “Harley Quinn” characters and fan favorites alike, including Catwoman (Sanaa Lathan), Batgirl (Briana Cuoco), Batman (Diedrich Bader), Commissioner Gordon (Christopher Meloni), and Harley’s toxic ex, Joker (Tudyk). The latter appears to be running for mayor — we can’t wait to see how the campaign inevitably collides with Harley’s latest evil plan, which she promises is nefarious enough to make “Lex Luthor shit his pants.”

The character of Harley Quinn made her debut in the influential ’90s cartoon “Batman: The Animated Series,” in which she was voiced by Arleen Sorkin and Poison Ivy by Diane Pershing. Margot Robbie has portrayed Harley in several DCEU films, including Cathy Yan’s “Birds of Prey.” Uma Thurman previously played Poison Ivy in 1997’s “Batman & Robin.”

The third season of “Harley Quinn” premieres July 28 on HBO Max.
