“This is my story — told by me. Not through someone else’s eyes. This is the truth, take it or leave it, love it or hate it. This is me,” says Janet Jackson in a new teaser for “Janet.” A two-night documentary event, the Lifetime and A&E film celebrates the 40th anniversary of Jackson’s first album, 1982’s “Janet Jackson.”
The spot includes clips of the global superstar onstage, in the recording studio, and from her childhood. Described as an “empowered woman” and “a force to be reckoned with,” Jackson, one of the best-selling artists in music history, is among the project’s exec producers.
“Together Again,” “That’s the Way Love Goes,” and “All For You” are among Jackson’s biggest hits.
“Janet” is slated to air in January 2022. Interviewees include Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul, both of whom are featured in the teaser.
