As Sydney Bristow, Jennifer Garner defied death at every turn and pulled off dozens of elaborate undercover operations. The “Alias” actress is returning to TV, but her character on “Camping” is considerably less resilient. The four-time Emmy nominee plays Kathryn, a woman determined to plan the perfect 45th birthday for her husband, Walt (David Tennant, “Jessica Jones”). But their four-night camping trip goes awry when unexpected guests and nature interfere with her perfect plans.
A new teaser for the comedy includes footage of heavy drinking, a cake fight, and Kathryn slapping Walt across the face. The meticulous planner just can’t seem to go with the flow. “Where the fuck are we?” she shouts into the wild.
“Alias” aired on ABC from 2001-2006. “Love, Simon,” “Wakefield,” and “Miracles from Heaven” are among Garner’s recent big screen credits.
“Camping” was created by “Girls” collaborators Lena Dunham and Jeni Konner. The series premieres on HBO October 14. Juliette Lewis (“August: Osage County”), Cheyenne Haynes (“Just Add Magic”), and Janicza Bravo (“Love”) co-star.
