After showing off her strength by dominating the pole in “Hustlers,” Jennifer Lopez is crushing chin-ups in a teaser for her latest project, “The Mother.” From “Mulan” director Niki Caro, the Netflix action pic sees Lopez playing an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the person whose life she values the most: the daughter she gave up years before.
The spot shows glimpses of what’s in store for the pair, including abduction attempts, car chases, and guns. “You saw what was out there: It’s going to keep coming. If there’s trouble, come find me,” Lopez’s character tells her daughter.
Lopez was last seen in Kat Coiro rom-com “Marry Me.” Her upcoming slate includes “The Godmother,” Reed Morano’s crime drama based on late drug lord Griselda Blanco.
“Whale Rider,” “North Country,” and “McFarland, USA” are among Caro’s credits. She’s helming episodes of “Daisy Jones & The Six,” Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel about a ’70s rock band.
“The Mother” is set to bow in May. Misha Green (“Lovecraft Country”), Andrea Berloff (“Straight Outta Compton”), and Peter Craig (“The Town”) penned the script.
