Teaser Watch: Kristen Bell Is “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window”

"The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window"

Offering a satirical twist on psychological thrillers like “The Woman in the Window” and “The Girl on the Train,” Kristen Bell’s latest sees the “Good Place” and “Veronica Mars” alumna playing a heartbroken woman whose life spirals out of control after she witnesses a murder — or thinks she does. A teaser has dropped for “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window,” a Netflix limited series that tells the story of Anna (Bell), who has made a habit of mixing wine and pills despite being warned that the combination “can contribute to hallucinations.”

It’s unclear whether the homicide Anna sees is real or imagined, but when the police tell her that “nothing happened” and “it’s illegal to make a false report,” she starts to feel “crazy.” “I just feel like I’m falling apart,” she says. “Like a house of cards. Like a sandcastle when the tide has come in. Like a rickety chair. Or an old jalopy, I don’t know.”

Bell’s upcoming slate includes “The People We Hate at the Wedding,” a comedy about American siblings who attend the wedding of their estranged half-sister in the English countryside. Claire Scanlon (“Set It Up”) is directing.

Created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf, “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window” premieres January 28 on Netflix.
