“I used to have nothing, and then I got this job — this family. But nothing lasts forever,” says Scarlett Johansson in a new teaser for Cate Shortland’s “Black Widow.” The long awaited standalone pic sees the former Russian spy and assassin leaving her fellow Avengers behind to tackle “unfinished business.”
Reportedly set between the events of “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” the prequel follows Natasha Romanoff on her mission to “go back to where it all started”: Russia. “I’ve lived a lot of lives, but I’m done running from my past,” Natasha explains.
Not everyone’s happy to see Natasha back in her homeland. Her reunion with her own sister (Florence Pugh, “Midsommar”) involves guns, punches, and kicks.
You can catch Johansson in theaters now in divorce drama “Marriage Story” and Nazi satire “Jojo Rabbit.” Pugh stars in Greta Gerwig’s take on Louisa May Alcott’s classic 1868 coming-of-age novel “Little Women,” set to bow December 25.
“Berlin Syndrome,” “Lore,” and episodes of “SMILF” are among Shortland’s previous credits.
“Black Widow” hits theaters May 1. Jac Schaeffer (“The Hustle”) penned the script. Rachel Weisz co-stars.
