“Pitch Perfect 3” doesn’t hit theaters for another six months, but the comedy’s new teaser promises it’ll be well worth the wait. The spot features behind-the-scenes footage from the third installment of the aca-awesome franchise and commentary from director Trish Sie (“Step Up All In”).
“We’re taking you on a global tour with the Bellas,” Sie explains. The Bellas don camouflage and sailor outfits, Beca (Anna Kendrick) jumps from a ship for a late-night swim, and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) helps train attack dogs. So, it seems safe to assume “Pitch Perfect 3” will see the kick-ass a cappella crew performing at army and navy bases — perhaps on a USO tour?
The franchise’s previous film, 2015’s “Pitch Perfect 2,” was directed by star Elizabeth Banks. It earned $184 million at the domestic box office, becoming the third highest-grossing live-action film from a female director.
All three “Pitch Perfect” films have been written by Kay Cannon (“Girlboss,” “30 Rock”).
Out December 22, “Pitch Perfect 3” stars franchise mainstays Kendrick, Wilson, Banks, John Michael Higgins, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee, and Hailee Steinfeld. Newcomers like Ruby Rose, John Lithgow, and DJ Khaled also co-star.
