Teaser Watch: “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” & Co. Enjoy Summer in the Catskills in Season 2

"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is going full “Dirty Dancing” in Season 2 — well, the Catskills part of “Dirty Dancing,” at least. A teaser for the second run of the Amy Sherman-Palladino-created Amazon dramedy has dropped and it sees Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) and her parents (Marin Hinkle and Tony Shalhoub) summering at a Catskills resort that very much brings to mind Baby and Johnny.

Midge, of course, is psyched about a season of beauty pageants, fireworks, and other recreation (“We’re going to the Catskills!”), but her manager, Susie (Alex Borstein), is slightly more dubious. “What group of total and complete assholes needs a skating rink in the middle of summer?” she yells at one point.

The Golden Globe- and PGA-winning series centers on an Upper West Side housewife whose world is upended when her wannabe stand up comedian husband (Michael Zegen) leaves her. Midge embarks on a stand up career of her own and ends up being a thousand times more talented than her husband ever was.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has already been renewed for a third season.

The series is up for nine Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy (Brosnahan), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy (Borstein). Sherman-Palladino snagged nods for best comedy writing and best comedy directing.

“Mrs. Maisel” will return on Amazon Prime later this year. No premiere date has been announced.
