“If it is to be, it is up to me,” says Zoe Saldaña in a new teaser for “Maya and the Three.” The animated Netflix series sees the “Avengers: Endgame” actress playing Maya, a princess determined to carve her own path. “I don’t want to be cooped up because I’m a princess. I could be a great Eagle Warrior,” she insists.

Set in a mythical world where magic is real, the project follows Maya as she embarks on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy and defeat the gods to save humankind. “Courage runs through your veins,” the Mesoamerican-inspired warrior princess is told.

Saldana’s upcoming slate includes a slew of “Avatar” sequels and Jasmine McGlade’s “Fencer,” a drama about a fencer vying for a spot on the Olympic team.

“Maya and the Three” launches on Netflix this fall.
